Innovation, not just in terms of products, but also in service. And a service for Varvel SpA, historic socially responsible company specialized the production of reducers and mechanical speed variators, is also developing new opportunities for those who wish to enter the world of work.
Thanks to the design and production competence, experience and excellence demonstrated in recent years, as witnessed by getting through to Step II of European Project Horizon 2020, the Bolognese company specialized in power transmission systems made in Italy will be partner of the Aldini Valeriani Foundation in the start of the first fourth year Education and Professional Training course. The addition of a further year will enable the awarding of a Professional Diploma which is configured as a continuation and completion of the three year course for young people who have acquired a regional professional qualification.
The training course is designed for students who are already qualified as Mechanical operators and Mechanical systems operators (mechanical assemblers) and aims to bring together the need for specialised personnel of local companies and young people’s training and professional needs so as to facilitate the entry into work reducing costs and time connected having to fill competence gaps when they arrive in companies. This is to be able to construct, starting from national and regional standards describing the professional role, a figure who exceeds those standards. The purpose is to work towards a structuring of training reflecting the current needs of the local manufacturing system.
This fourth year course will have an overal duration of 1.000 hours (in other words a school year starting on 15 September 2016) of which 60% will be dedicated to learning in company by means of 3 internships, with intervals of classroom lessons. The fundamental objectives of the training course are the consolidation of basic technical competence and practical-manual skills in using the equipment, the machine tools and production plant.
Varvel’s role is fundamental in this initiative as it is involved not only as reference company for internships, but it is part of the technical scientific committee, and was fully involved in the conception of the project and the preparation of the training program, and also the final evaluation of students. The participants, in fact, will have both a specialized technical reference person for the lessons in the production plant as well as a dedicated human resources manager for all the notions relating to settling into the company and regarding possible future development of the profession.
At the end of the course, the student will be a figure who acts in autonomy, in the frame work of an established action and the assigned tasks, contributing – in relationship to the various ambit of the exercise – to presiding over the automized production process, through participating in determining the tools and tecnological resources, the setting up and operative organization of the work, the implementation of the continuous improvement procedures, the monitoring and evaluation of the result, assuming the responsibility regarding the overseeing of activities carried out by others. The technical training in the use of methodologies, specialized tools and information enables the person to conduct the activity relative to the reference process, with competence relative to production of technical documentation, the conduct, control and maintenance of automized plant.
“We are proud to be able to participate in this initiative which continues our partnership with the Aldini Valeriani Foundation – states Francesco Berselli, President of Varvel SpA – because we consider that the collaboration with companies is a determining factor so as to transmit precious information to support the training of those who aspire to enter the world of work. The manufacturing universe has a duty to contribute, so as to reap the benefits in the future with collaborators who are prepared to tackle the challenge of the future”.
“Today the employment market needs considerable competence – declares Mauro Cominoli, Managing Director of Varvel SpA – and for this reason the companies themselves need to invest in the young, so as to be able to count on skilled people who are in a position to guarantee a certain level in everyday working life. We have always believed in this exchange, as demonstrated by the different initiatives we have undertaken, one of which being with the university world which led to Varvel obtaining since 2009 the « Ok Intern Badge», a recognition that “Republic of Interns” assigns to companies that promote internships respecting the “Charter of interns’ rights”.
